Must be eighteen (18) years of age when applying and less than thirty-six (36) years of age before receiving the oath of office.
REQUIREMENTS Complete a commission approved Structure Fire Suppression training program. Qualify for and pass all four (4) sections of the structure exam; you must have unexpired exam scores in FIDO to qualify for certification. Document completion of medical training equal to EMR, ECA, EMT or Paramedic certification.
Currently used in every U.S. state and adopted statewide in 43 states, NFPA 101:Life Safety Code (NFPA 101), addresses minimum building design, construction, operation, and maintenance requirements necessary to protect building occupants from danger caused by fire, smoke, and toxic fumes.
Under Texas Government Code 419.048, the Texas Commission on Fire Protection is charged with developing and establishing criteria to receive and analyze injury information pertaining to Texas fire fighters.
