The University Interscholastic League was created by The University of Texas at Austin to provide leadership and guidance to public school debate and athletic teachers. Since 1910 the UIL has grown into the largest inter-school organization of its kind in the world.
UIL Eligibility is comprised of two pages, the UIL Eligibility Page which displays eligibility information for individual students and the UIL Eligibility Manager which evaluates students grades and determines the eligibility status for listed students.

The UIL is administered by the executive director and a support staff of approximately 50 people. Many contests are directed by University of Texas at Austin faculty who teach in the area of the contests they direct.

The Leagues sources of income are: membership dues; participation fees; contest fees; open records productions; publication sales; the admission price for state level cross-country, swimming and diving, tennis, wrestling and one-act play contests; an annually determined percentage of admission prices for state level
The report must be in writing and filed with the District Executive Committee or the State Executive Committee, whichever is appropriate, within a reasonable time.
