Basic Admission Requirements Be 55 years or older, be homeless, or have a disability. Be a veteran, having served on active duty. Be a California resident. Be discharged or released from active duty under conditions other than dishonorable.
CalVet Home Loan products have no down payment requirements. In addition, CalVet Home Loans has expanded eligibility. ​ Now, nearly any veteran wanting to buy a home in California is eligible.

Applying for a CalVet Veterans Home Be 55 years or older, be homeless, or have a disability. Be a veteran, having served on active duty. Be a California resident. Be discharged or released from active duty under conditions other than dishonorable.
The veteran must have served during a period of war declared by Congress, or been awarded a Campaign or Expeditionary Medal. This program does not have an income limit. A child must be under 27 years of age to receive the fee waiver benefit. The age limit is extended to 30 years of age if the child is a veteran.
