This honor is the most prestigious award available for volunteers in the United States. It has been awarded by the U.S. President under various names since the 1980s to people who have donated significant hours with exemplary performance for important volunteer causes.
The Presidents Volunteer Service Award is a civil award bestowed by the President of the United States. Established by executive order by George W. Bush, the award was established to honor volunteers that give hundreds of hours per year helping others through the Presidents Council on Service and Civic Participation.
These awards are given to employees who have completed a significant milestone in their career, such as five, ten, or twenty years of service. Service awards for employees are important because they show your team that your company values their contributions and recognizes their hard work.
The Presidents Volunteer Service Award recognizes the valuable contributions volunteers make in our communities and encourages more people to serve. The award honors this American tradition and thanks those who inspire others to engage in volunteer service by demonstrated commitment and example.
This is the highest honor a staff member can receive at Illinois State. Recipients must have been employed at the university for at least 5 years and can receive the award only once in 7 years. Nominees will be judged on three criteria: Job Performance; Campus/University Involvement; Community Service.

1 answer These are good awards to put down on your common app, but not super impressive awards for college admissions to say Top 50 schools. I think it depends on your award level. Bronze - Tier 4, Silver -Tier 3, and Gold either a 2 or 3 depending on what your impact actually was. Definitely not a tier 1 activity.
