A student must achieve a passing score on a written concealed handgun competency exam and in a live-fire exercise to complete an initial concealed handgun training class. An initial concealed handgun training class must provide at least 8 hours of instruction, including the live-fire exercise and written exam.
Colorado law permits you to have loaded pistols and revolvers in a vehicle. A CCW permit is not necessary for vehicle carry. Note that as of January 1, 2025, guns in vehicles must be stored in a locked container out of plain view. Examples include a locked glove compartment or center console.
For new permits, there is a non-refundable $152.50 processing fee. For renewal permits, there is a non-refundable $63 processing fee. There is a $15 late fee for any permit that has expired. No permit shall be renewed six months or more after its expiration date and the permit shall be deemed permanently expired.
