Enter text or a number in a cell On the worksheet, click a cell. Type the numbers or text that you want to enter, and then press ENTER or TAB. To enter data on a new line within a cell, enter a line break by pressing ALT+ENTER.
Try it! Select the cell or column that contains the text you want to split. Select Data Text to Columns. In the Convert Text to Columns Wizard, select Delimited Next. Select the Delimiters for your data. Select Next. Select the Destination in your worksheet which is where you want the split data to appear.

Below are the steps to do this: Select the column you need to autofit. Click the Home tab. In the Cells group, click on the Format option. This will show additional options in the drop-down. Click on the Autofit Column Width option.
On the active worksheet, select the cell or range in which you want to edit existing or enter new data. In the active cell, type new data or edit the existing data, and then press Enter or Tab to move the selection to the next cell. The changes are applied to all the worksheets that you selected.

Double clicking on a cell will simply activate and make it editable. You can also make a cell editable by clicking in the formula bar. This method works only if the cell you want to edit is active.
