Infuse Hizentra under your skin only; do not inject into a blood vessel. Self-administer Hizentra only after having been taught to do so by your doctor or other healthcare professional, and having received dosing instructions for treating your condition.

Hizentra is a subcutaneous infusion therapy, which means IV access is not involved. Instead, you can self-administer by infusing just under the skin, not into your veins, after receiving training from your doctor.
IVIG is given into a vein (intravenously), in an infusion that can take up four hours. The amount of IVIG you need for each dose depends on your weight as well as the reason you are getting the IVIG: If the purpose is to replace the antibodies your body should be producing, IVIG is given on a regular schedule.

It uses a relatively small needle and an infusion pump. With proper training, most patients can self-infuse SCIg (or be assisted by a caregiver). Most SCIg products are infused weekly, as Hizentra is for CIDP, but for those with PI, Hizentra provides the option to infuse as often as daily or up to once every 2 weeks.
SCIg can either be self-infused at home (after proper training) or administered in a medical setting with a healthcare provider, in either case using a needle set, designed explicitly for SC infusions.
