To obtain your caregiver certification in Delaware, you must complete a state-approved training program. These programs typically include both classroom instruction and hands-on training, covering topics such as personal care, communication, and emergency response.

In order for you to get paid for being a caregiver, the person who you care for must be eligible for and enrolled in a Personal Attendant Services program. There are several Personal Attendant Services programs in Delaware.
A Caregivers Affidavit will allow you to 1) enroll the child in school and 2) if you are a relative, consent to medical care on behalf of the child. If you are not a relative, you may consent to school-related medical care only and it is recommended that you obtain legal guardianship.
