The inspections, part of Random Anti-Terrorism Measures, consist of Department of the Army Security Guards conducting internal and external inspections of each selected vehicle. The inspections are designed to detect any illegal weapons or substances in any vehicle coming on post.

The online course used to be required training every four years for any soldier operating Army vehicles.
While commanders/supervisors do not control POV operators similar to those operating Army motor vehicles (AMV), numerous areas of influence may be used to reduce manpower losses.
(b) Stops and inspections of POVs within the military installation, other than at restricted areas or at an installation gate, are authorized only when there is a reasonable suspicion of criminal activity, or of a violation of a traffic regulation or of the installation commanders policy.
The command must have permission of the Soldier or spouse to enter the home. The command can ask to enter, but if the Soldier says no, they can not force their way in to inspect.
