SERCAT 3. Definition: Members of the Reserves who provide a. contingent contribution to capability by indicating their availability to serve, or who are rendering service to meet a specified task within a financial year.
Members of the Reserves The SERCATs for reserve members are: SERCAT 5 (enduring pattern of service) SERCAT 4 (short notice call for duty)
What is SERCAT 5? Members of the Reserves who provide a contribution to capability that extends across financial years and who have security of tenure for the duration of their approved commitment to serve.
SERCAT 2 groups members who remain in the ADF, but have no commitment to render service, other than call out. It represents the standby component of the ADF. A number of Permanent members (ie those who have served in SERCAT 6 or 7) are required to transfer to SERCAT 2 when they cease Permanent service.
What is SERCAT 2? Members of the Reserve Forces who do not render service and have no service obligation. They are liable for call out. SERCAT 2 groups members who remain in the ADF, but have no commitment to render service, other than call out.
