What is SCRA request?

SCRA is a program that provides certain protections in lending for servicemembers who are called to Active Duty. From this site: Users may submit a Single Record Request to obtain a report certifying Title 10 active duty status for provisions under SCRA. An account is required to use the Single Record Request.

How can I get SCRA benefits?

To receive this benefit you must notify your lender in writing and include a copy of your orders to active duty service or a letter from your commanding officer that shows the date you began active duty service.

Who is not covered by the SCRA?

The SCRA does not apply to criminal cases, only civil cases. Civil cases are those in which one individual or business sues another to protect, enforce, or address private or civil rights.

Can SCRA lower my interest rate?

When you make a proper request for an interest rate reduction under the SCRA, your lender must reduce your interest rate to 6 percent for the entire time you are serving on active duty. Your lender can't add the amount of interest above 6 percent back into the loan later on after you leave active duty.

How do I qualify for SCRA?

To be eligible for SCRA benefits, you must currently serve on active duty. Eligibility extends to members of the National Guard and Reserve members serving on active-duty orders for 30 days or more.

How much does SCRA cost?

The SCRA interest rate cap is 6%, but you must know when it applies. As a banker or lender, you have to be especially careful when calculating interest rates on loans to servicemembers.
