Players participate in their Affiliate evaluation process and if selected move on to the district tryouts. Those players who are selected at the district level then have the privilege of attending one of the USA Hockey summer development camps. National Camps are available for 15-17 year old players.
Players earn an invitation to the national camps through their performance at a series of state- and district-level camps held each season. The camps are designed so players return home afterward with the tools to further develop their skills over the course of the coming season and beyond.
The best you can expect is some small improvements. HOWEVER, if you kid had fun and learned new things at camp, then they will probably be coming back motivated to keep on working on everything they learned, and that motivation will lead to big improvements in the long run.
The NTDP scouts and selects the top 22 players in two age groups (Under-17 and Under-18) to train and develop in a highly competitive environment. The two teams (Under-17 and Under-18) face a rigorous domestic schedule including competition against older, more- developed players.
Excel in Your League: Focus on consistently performing well in your games. Statistics like goals, assists, and overall contribution to your team can catch the attention of local scouts.
