Can I book flights outside of DTS?

For booking travel outside of DTS, call the CTO that services your active component unit of assignment. Be sure to tell them you are a reservist. If you have difficulty finding the number for your units servicing CTO, you can use the phone number found on this list.

Can I approve my own DTS authorization?

Per the DTS Regulations (authorized by DoDI 5154.31, volume 3) as a SAO, you can approve your own authorizations; however, to protect itself from undue risk of fraud, DoD stipulates that SAOs may not approve any of their own travel documents that contain a request for a payment.

Can I travel without DTS authorization?

DTS authorizations establish the conditions under which official travel is performed at U.S. Government expense. Authorizations should be created, signed, and approved before travel begins unless urgent or unusual situations prevent prior creations and approval.

What are travel orders?

TRAVEL ORDERS A travel order identifies the travel purpose and includes necessary financial information for budgetary and reimbursement purposes. It also provides documentation for using travel programs to a Travel Management Company (TMC) and travel service vendors (FTR 301-71.100).

Where can I find my travel order authorization number?

Block 8: TRAVEL ORDER/AUTHORIZATION NUMBER Youll find this number on the upper left hand corner of your orders, if TCS orders, or from Box 22 of your DD Form1610. Invitational travel orders should have this number clearly indicated on the orders.
