The DOD SkillBridge program gives service members the chance to gain valuable civilian work experience. The Military-Civilian Transition Office (MCTO), under the authority of the USD(PR), executes a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with public and private organizations who then host SkillBridge programs in accordance with the rules, parameters, procedures, and responsibilities outlined in the MOU.
As such, SkillBridge participants must make weekly contact with their command point of contact for personnel accountability. Failure to maintain weekly contact may result in program termination and return to the permanent duty station (PDS) at the members expense. 4.
Any rank, enlisted or officer, may apply for SkillBridge internships at DOI. SkillBridge permits Service members to use up to the last 180 days of Service to train and learn with DOI. Separating Service members must obtain approval from their current unit and be American citizens who are on active duty in the military.
