Important sea service requirements for OUPV: Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to document 360 days of experience on a vessel, of which at least 90 days must be on Near Coastal/Ocean waters otherwise license will be limited to Inland Waters ONLY.
To document your experience on the water, use the Small Vessel Sea Service Form CG-719S and record, to the best of your recollection, the number of days that you were on the water in any given month and year. The Coast Guard is not looking for law books or official records to docHub this time.
Small vessel sea service forms are used to document the time you spent on the water in order to qualify for your USCG captains license. Remember to use one small vessel sea service form per vessel. Fill in your last name, first name, middle initial, and social security number.
For additional information on other acceptable service documentation, please refer to 46 CFR 10.232. The Sea Service time entered must have been completed within the past 5 years in order to count toward the 360 day requirement.
How do I document sea service? To document service aboard vessels of less than 200 GRT: Applicants may use the CG 719-S (Small Vessel Sea Service Form) or they may submit a letter which includes the same information required on the Small Vessel Sea Service Form.
