Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers and is a joining requirement. Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteers Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.
Adult leaders in units are considered trained and eligible to wear the official Trained emblem when they have completed Youth Protection Training and the training courses outlined in the linked document below. Trained Leader Requirements (Updated February 2025)
Its a requirement. As a registered BSA volunteer, you must take the full 72-minute Youth Protection Training, hereafter known as YPT, every two years by national standards, but the Far East Council has a policy that YPT must be completed annually in order to make sure no one laps in their YPT.
