The ADU Rental Program provides qualified low and moderate-income households the opportunity to live at a reduced rent in some of the new privately-owned and privately managed market-rate apartment communities located in Fairfax County.
The Affordable Dwelling Unit (ADU) program offers homes throughout the city at a percentage of Housing and Urban Developments (HUD) Area Median Income (AMI). There are income limits on how much a household can make depending on the AMI percentage.
The ADU Program establishes maximum household income limits at 50 and 70 percent or less of the Area Median Income (AMI) for rental ADUs and at 70 percent or less of the AMI for for-sale ADUs. The 2024 AMI for a household of four is $154,700 as set by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The total payments may not exceed a total of four (4) months of rental assistance per household.
