What is wage continuation pay? Wage/Salary continuation pay refers to a compensation program that provides employees with a portion of their full wages during temporary periods of absence from work due to illness, injury, or other unforeseen circumstances.
10.200 What is continuation of pay? (a) For most employees who sustain a traumatic injury, the FECA provides that the employer must continue the employees regular pay during any periods of resulting disability, up to a maximum of 45 calendar days. This is called continuation of pay, or COP.
What Is a Salary Continuation Plan? A salary continuation plan describes in writing, before any disability occurs, what an employer will do in the event an employee becomes disabled. With such a plan, the employer can continue paying all or part of an employees salary.
To be eligible for COP, you must submit a CA-1 within 30 days of the injury. If disabled and claiming COP, you must submit medical evidence supporting your disability to your employing agency within 10 workdays.
If you are disabled for work as a result of this injury and filed CA-1 within thirty days of the injury, you may be entitled to receive continuation of pay (COP) from your employing agency. COP is paid for up to 45 calendar days of disability, and is not charged against sick or annual leave.
