History. A village without a name located in present-day Wah, was called Wah when Mughal emperor Jehangir came back from Kashmir and after he arrived in the village he said Wah. Wah is also adjacent to Taxila, and shares much of its early history with the Gandhara Civilization.
The POF was founded by the Government of Pakistan with early collaboration from the former British Royal Ordnance Factory in 1951.
About. The Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) is Pakistans largest defense supplier and industrial complex. It is a conglomerate consisting of fourteen factories that are central to Pakistans conventional arms production.
Wah Industries Limited (WIL) was established on November 07, 1958 as a commercial enterprise. We are a state-owned with 100% investment and management control of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF, .pof.gov.pk). WIL was incorporated on 7 Nov, 1958 as Public Limited Company under Companies Ordinance 1984.
Post Partition History The word Cantt was added to Wah in 1951, when Prime Minister Khawaja Nazim-u-Din unveiled the foundation stone of Pakistan Ordnance Factories. POF is not one ammunition factory but it is a complex of 14 factories manufacturing arms and ammunition.
