A waiver is the voluntary relinquishment or surrender of a known legal right, claim, or privilege. It may be made in writing, orally, or implied by conduct, and is commonly used in contractual, legal, and regulatory contexts.
A waiver or deferral of the binding commitment may be requested only from the NRMP. A deferral is not a waiver. A deferral allows for a one-year delayed start to training and requires mutual agreement between the applicant and program.
If the court grants you a deferral, payment may be postponed to the end of the case or you may be required to pay a portion of the fee now and be given additional time to pay the balance. If you are awarded a waiver you will not be required to pay the fees.
