A Student Release Form is a form template designed to authorize the release of students from school premises, ensure their safety, document consent, track releases, and inform relevant parties.
If a student accidentally granted FERPA waiver or FERPA release and would like to unsign it, you as a counselor can do so by going to the students profile. Students cannot change status of their FERPA release or waiver after its signed/withheld. Only counselors can do so.
FERPA requires that a consent for disclosure of education records be signed and dated, specify the records that may be disclosed, state the purpose of the disclosure, and identify the party or class of parties to whom the disclosure may be made.
Under FERPA, all rights to inspect education records and consent for their disclosure pass to the student when the student turns 18. This means an 18-year old student controls access to her education records.
