Parent Clubs are composed of groups of people with a singular interest in promoting the AKC recognized breed they have chosen to become involved. Parent Clubs are usually members of AKC that host shows and AKC performance events for both members and non-members to participate.
Open shows can be All-Breed shows, or Breed Club shows. These are for Pedigree, Kennel Club Registered dogs only. As in a Limit show, your breed may have its own classes where you are judged alongside dogs of the same breed and age.
The American Kennel Club (AKC) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit registry of purebred dog pedigrees in the United States.

FSS Open Shows are informal AKC sanctioned events. They allow owners and their dogs of FSS Miscellaneous Class breeds a chance to gain the ring experience of a conformation dog show in a relaxed and inviting environment.
AKC recognizes fifteen (15) different types of clubs: Parent Specialty, All-Breed, Specialty (single breed), Group (limited breed), Obedience, Tracking, Agility, Rally, Field Trial, Hunting Test, Herding, Coonhound, Lure Coursing, Earthdog and Scent Work.
Parent clubs (called parent because many breeds have regional specialty clubs which come under the umbrella of the parent club) are responsible for the breed standard (a written description of the ideal dog of that breed), the education of breed owners on the nuances of the breed, and overseeing the breeds health
