All drivers applying for a DL must have a visual acuity better than 20/200 (best corrected) in at least one eye before a DL can be issued.
You must pass a vision test when you apply for a driver license or to renew your license. The test must show that you have visual acuity of at least 20/40 (based on the Snellen Visual Acuity Scale) in either or both eyes, with or without corrective lenses.
If a patient fails the visual field test, their eye doctor may recommend certain restrictions, such as daylight driving only, driving only below a certain speed, or driving only in a set radius around their home.
The DMVs vision screening standard is the ability to see 20/40 with both eyes together, OR 20/40 in one eye and at least 20/70 in the other eye, with or without corrective lenses.
Delaware. All original and renewal applicants must pass a vision screening test before a license is issued. Applicants with visual acuity of 20/40 or better in one eye will be issued an unrestricted license. Applicants with 20/50 vision are restricted to daylight only driving.
