Your IHSS NOA will contain the amount of time you can get per week and per month in hours and minutes. To calculate the amount of IHSS hours you can receive in a month, you must convert the hours and minutes you need of IHSS services per week to 10ths of an hour and then multiply by 4.33.
Hours of service refers to the maximum amount of time drivers are permitted to be on duty including driving time, and specifies number and length of rest periods, to help ensure that drivers stay awake and alert.
End of Shift: Once the 14-hour clock runs out, the driver must take a mandatory ten hours off duty before starting a new shift. This ensures that drivers have sufficient time to rest and recharge, reducing the risk of fatigue-related accidents.
The DOT 14-hour rule details how long commercial drivers can work during a 24-hour period. The rule dictates that drivers must fit all of their driving time for the day into a 14-hour shift. They must then take a mandatory 10 hours off-duty period after the 14 consecutive hours on duty.
60/70-hour limit In addition to daily limits, there are also weekly limits on total driving time. Carriers that do not operate daily cannot drive after completing 60 hours on duty within any seven-day period. Carriers operating daily cannot drive after completing 70 hours on duty within eight days.
