Thomas Frederick Dixon Jr. (January 11, 1864 April 3, 1946) was an American polymath: a Baptist minister, politician, lawyer, lecturer, writer, and filmmaker.
Tom Dixon is a self-taught designer who developed his craft after a motorbike accident which made him learn how to weld. He then went on to turn industrial scrap into furniture, forging his way in the design world as a forward-thinker that goes against the grain.
Between 1902 and 1939 he published 22 novels, as well as numerous plays, screenplays, books of sermons, and miscellaneous nonfiction. Educated at Wake Forest and Johns Hopkins, Dixon was a lawyer, state legislator, preacher, novelist, playwright, actor, lecturer, real-estate speculator, and movie producer.
