The narrow lake is ideal for non-motorized watercraft with plenty of shoreline to explore opposite the campground. Otter Lake is stocked by the Summerland Trout Hatchery with rainbow trout fry resulting in excellent sport fishing opportunities.
A small beach at the campground boat launch provides a spot to swim, though it is better at the day-use area in Tulameen. There are no lifeguards on duty in BC Parks. Canoeing and kayaking allowed on Otter Lake.
Although California law prohibits swimming in manmade recreational lakes where the water is not recirculated, Lago Santa Margarita welcomes boaters and anglers. Each spring, the lake is stocked with bass, bluegill, and catfish, to the delight of anglers, and with mosquito fish, to the dismay of mosquitoes.
Campsite: Check-in time is 2:00 PM / Check-out time is 12:00 Noon. Cabin: Check-in time is 4:00 PM / Check-out time is 11:00 AM. No early check-ins or check-ins after 11:00 PM. Check-in time is strictly enforced.
Swimming is prohibited in all lakes on JBER.
