As it turns out, there are a few reasons why you may be getting plain text emails: Some mobile email clients still do not support HTML emails. Various mechanisms used by websites (e.g. contact forms) tend to use the plain text format.
Click File > Options > Mail. Under Compose messages, click Stationery and Fonts. On the Personal Stationery tab, under New mail messages, click Font. If you want to change font styles for messages you reply to or forward, under Replying or forwarding messages, click Font.
From the message window, click the Format Text tab. Choose a message format. HTML (the default) is usually your best option, as it allows formatting and works on most software. You can also change message formats when you reply to or forward an email.
1) Some email programs will display multi-part messages as garbled code or an attachment if an email message doesn't contain both HTML and plain text content. To avoid this add either plain text or HTML content to your campaign if one or the other is missing.
Change the message format for all messages you send On the File tab, choose Options > Mail. Under Compose messages, in the Compose messages in this format list, click HTML, Rich Text, or Plain Text.
HTML: It's a default message format set in Outlook (unless you change the settings). It's strongly suggested to use HTML format for your emails as it allows you to add various fonts, colors, and bulleted/numbered lists & pictures in the emails. It's by far the most suitable format for emails.
