If you want to limit how much others can edit or format a form, use the Restrict Editing command: Open the form that you want to lock or protect. Select Developer Restrict Editing. After selecting restrictions, select Yes, Start Enforcing Protection.
If you later want to unlock the field, follow these steps: Select the field you want to unlock. Press Ctrl+Shift+F11.
Click Edit Document Edit in Word for the web to make changes to a document. When you open a document from OneDrive, Word for the web displays it in Reading view. To make changes to your document, switch to Editing view, where you can add and delete content and do other things, such as: Add tables and pictures.
Fields can also be updated by right-clicking a field and then clicking Update Field or by clicking in a field and then pressing F9. If you later want to unlock the field, follow these steps: Select the field you want to unlock. Press Ctrl+Shift+F11.
Create a Form Place the text cursor where you want to insert the form field. Click the Developer tab on the ribbon. Click the Design Mode button in the controls group. Click a Content Control buttons to insert the selected type of control. When youre done, click the Design Mode button again to exit Design Mode.
View Advanced Properties From the Info screen, click the Properties button. Select Advanced Properties. The Document Properties dialog box opens to the Summary tab, where there are a few more properties to fill out. Edit the document properties. Click OK.
This behavior occurs when the table cell is too narrow to view the entire field code, and when you press SHIFT+F9 to edit the field code.
Update a field In a document you have open, right-click a field, such as a table of contents, a page number, or a cross-reference, and click Update Field. Notes: If youre updating a table of contents, in the Update Table of Contents dialog box, select whether you want to update page numbers only or the entire table.
In the Controls group click Legacy Tools and then click the Text Form Field tool. A field indicator appears in the document. Right-click the form field just entered and choose Properties from the resulting Context menu. The Text Form Field Options dialog box appears.
