Set Resolution to Done can be found in the Add post function option under Update Issue Field - its the default in the dropdown from there.
As a Jira administrator, you can manage or customize default issue statuses, resolutions, and priorities. Statuses represent the position of an issue in its workflow. A status can be mapped to one workflow step. Resolutions are the ways in which an issue can be closed.
Resolved means a developer fixed an issue they were assigned. Closed means that the Quality Assurance Manager or appropriate team member confirmed the fix was done correctly.
Jira Work Management (business projects) issue types Task. A task represents work that needs to be done. Subtask. A subtask is a piece of work that is required to complete a task. Epic. A big user story that needs to be broken down. Bug. Story. Task. Subtask. Change.
Look for the copy of the workflow in the page ⚙ Issues Workflows and click on the Edit button next to it. This copy will be a temporary workflow that we will edit and use to fix the issue resolution field. Switch to the diagram view, then click on the Add a transition button to create a new temporary transition.
A JIRA issue can be resolved in a number of ways. The default resolution statuses are: Fixed, Duplicate, Wont Fix, Incomplete, and Cannot Reproduce.
select Update Issue Field and click Add. select Resolution and field value of None.
For the workflow transition from Done to In-Progress, add a post function Clear Field Value and select Resolution. This will clear the resolution field value when a ticket is transitioned back to In-progress by automation or by user manually .
The resolution field is a special one, and you can only edit it if you add it to a screen, change it as part of a post function, or set it using an automation.
The Resolution field is an important feature in Jira. It specifies the reason an issue is closed and removes the need of having multiple statuses with the purpose of stating why the issue is closed, thus capturing important data for your team while reducing the time you have to manage your workflow.
