We click into text, at the position where we want to insert the reference to the footnote. Then we go to the References tab and click on Insert Footnotes. As we can see, Word will automatically insert a line at the end of the page and also the number 1 since it is our first footnote. Here we can now write our referencing text. When we go back to the content, we can see that the referencing number is also inserted where we first placed our cursor. Of course, we can insert more footnotes on a single page. Word will simply make room for them at the end of the page. Inserting an endnote works the same way. We again click into the text, where we want the reference to the endnote to be inserted. At the bottom of a page, right-click the footnote text area, click Note Options, and then click Convert. Finally, click Convert all footnotes to endnotes. To convert one footnote to an endnote: At the bottom of the page, right-click the text of a footnote, and then click Convert to Endnote.
To add footnotes: Click Insert, then select Footnote from the drop-down menu. Google Docs will place a superscript number in the body of the document, as well as at the bottom of the page. The insertion point will now be at the bottom of the page. Type the text you want to display as additional information.

Google Docs dont allow you to automatically insert endnotes while writing. This AddOn converts any footnotes you have into endnotes and adds them to the end of the document in order.
Another way you can do this is to right-click the footnote at the bottom of the page, select Go to Footnote and then delete the number there.
Footnotes appear at the bottom of the page and endnotes come at the end of the document. A number or symbol on the footnote or endnote matches up with a reference mark in the document. Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote.
Endnotes are single-spaced with double-spaced between. Each first footnote or endnote entry must include the authors name, the title, the source or publisher, and the date of publication. Entries from a book or periodical must include page numbers. (Omit portions of this information only if it is not available.)
Google Docs Step 1: Drag and drop your citations from EndNote to where you want to place them in your Google doc. Step 2: When youre finished writing, download your Google doc in Rich Text Format (.rtf) Step 3: In EndNote, select Tools - Format Paper - Format Paper and choose your .rtf file.
To delete a footnote, simply delete the superscript number in your text. This will delete the corresponding footnote and reorder any subsequent footnotes ingly.
