The style and wording of an affidavit can vary depending on where it will be used. In the UK, a general template form, known as an N285, can be found on the Gov.uk website. You can either use the template, prepare one yourself, or a legal professional can draft one for you.
What should I include in my Affidavit? Your name and address. Your statement of facts. The jurisdiction or country where you will use the document. Court level, case or claim number, and jurisdiction (if the document is being used in court)
Step 1: Decide what the title of your affidavit will be. Step 2: Put the name and personal background information of the person giving the information in the first paragraph. Step 3: Write an opening sentence in the first person tense. Step 4: Make an outline of the information given or state the facts of the case.
Example: I, Jane Smith, swear that the information in my sworn statement is truthful to the best of my knowledge and understanding. Your statement of truth must be in the first person and you need to identify yourself in it.
I swear by Almighty God that this (pointing to the signature) is my name and handwriting and that the contents of this my affidavit are true, and (if there is an exhibit), there is now shown to me marked (A) the (description of exhibit) referred to therein.
Perhaps the most important aspect of writing an affidavit is paying close attention to detail. Remember : legal documents must be complete, free of grammatical errors, and 100% truthful.
Every I-751 affidavit should cover these basic points: Full name and address of affiant. Date and place of birth. Relationship to the conditional resident and spouse. An account of your relationship explaining: Details explaining how the person acquired this knowledge (i.e. friends) Date and signature.
