You need to use the pdfinfo command to see information from a Unix or Linux CLI. This command prints the contents of the Info dictionary (plus some other useful information) from a Portable Document Format (PDF) file on screen. By default, pdfinfo command may not be installed on your system.
We can use the pdfinfo command to print the contents of the document information dictionary of a PDF document. Besides the contents of the dictionary, it also prints other useful information such as page count, page size, PDF version.
How to get and change PDF metadata from GUI You can see our other tutorial on Master PDF Editor Linux Installation to get the application on your system. In Master PDF Editor, navigate to File Properties. Under the Document Info tab, you will see all of the metadata for your PDF file.
Choose File Properties, and click the Additional Metadata button in the Description tab. Click Advanced to display all the metadata embedded in the document. (Metadata is displayed by schemathat is, in predefined groups of related information.)

It is an open source program licensed under the GPL 3 license, and exists in most Linux distributions repositories by default. For other Linux distributions, just search for exiftool in your distributions repositories to find the package.
