hey this is ralph and in this demonstration i want to use the picture tag with some source tags to basically deliver up different images based on the users device width and their web page thats kind of tricky to think about but basically lets say theres a situation where you want to display an image on your web page but if the user is on a mobile phone a smartphone you want to display a different image so basically we could serve up a kind of like a low res or low version image for the smartphone user versus the desktop user and the only thing were really doing there is saving a little bit of bandwidth for them so lets see how that would work out now on my markup here instead of using the img tag to display an image im going to use the picture tag and then within that im going to have several things here lets see i will do a source tag you might be familiar with the source tag because of the video tag or the audio tag however with the source tag id followed up with an src att

The HTTP Headers can have one or more values depending on the header field definitions. A multi-valued header will have comma separated values. Here are a few examples of headers that contain multiple values: Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate.
What Does Specify a Vary: Accept-Encoding Header Actually Mean? Accept-encoding header is an HTTP header which must be included on every origin server response. Its main job is to inform the browsers if the client can handle the compressed version of the website.
The Vary HTTP response header describes the parts of the request message aside from the method and URL that influenced the content of the response it occurs in. Most often, this is used to create a cache key when content negotiation is in use.
The Accept-Encoding request HTTP header indicates the content encoding (usually a compression algorithm) that the client can understand. The server uses content negotiation to select one of the proposals and informs the client of that choice with the Content-Encoding response header.
The Accept-Encoding header can be quite complex, e.g. The Content-Encoding response header field indicates what content codings have been applied to the response representation. Content-Encoding is primarily used to allow the response entity to be compressed without losing the identity of its underlying media type.
There are 2 ways you can do that: Disable response compression on the server. If you cant disable response compression on the server (this is extremely unlikely), you can modify the incoming requests to remove the Accept-Encoding header before the server sees it.
Vary: Accept simply says that the response was generated based on the Accept header in the request. A request with a different Accept header might get a different response. (You can see that the linked PHP code looks at $HTTPACCEPT . Thats the value of the Accept request header.)
Header names are not case sensitive. From RFC 2616 - Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1, Section 4.2, Message Headers: Each header field consists of a name followed by a colon (:) and the field value.
Header names are not case sensitive. From RFC 2616 - Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1, Section 4.2, Message Headers: Each header field consists of a name followed by a colon (:) and the field value.
HTTP headers let the client and the server pass additional information with an HTTP request or response.Headers can also be grouped ing to how proxies handle them: Connection. Keep-Alive. Proxy-Authenticate. Proxy-Authorization. TE. Trailer. Transfer-Encoding. Upgrade (see also Protocol upgrade mechanism).
