Lens flare is the main issue However, as our test result show, scratches do cause and/or amplify lens flare and similar effects, and can make them very intrusive, especially when shooting backlit scenes or with lateral lighting.
Hence, it does not affect the image. The dust on the rear part of the lens, however, does affect the final image because the light directly hits the sensor and anything blocking the light will also show up on the sensor (especially when it is large). Always keep the rear lens element of your lens clean!
How to Get Scratches Out of Glasses with Baking Soda Step 1: Clean your glasses well with the microfiber cloth. Step 2: Mix baking soda with water in the bowl to produce a thick paste. Step 3: Apply the paste to the scratched part of your glasses lens. Step 4: Rinse your lenses with water to remove the paste.
After pulling some scratched lenses from the repair department, the main takeaway is that front element scratches reduce the contrast and sharpness of your images. Unsurprisingly, the image quality issue is localized almost entirely to the scratch.
To put it simply, front element scratches will reduce the contrast and sharpness of your images, but nearly exclusively at the point where the scratch is on the element. So will you notice these scratches in your images? Probably not. This is because of how lenses capture light.
Clean the camera lens using the microfiber lens cleaning cloth. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to the damp cotton swab. After that, carefully scrub the scratches with toothpaste in a circular motion. Dont apply too much pressure or force to avoid damaging the lens coating.
Dab a bit of toothpaste on the lenses. Just a small amount will do the trick. Rub it on the scratches using circular motions for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the toothpaste from the lenses using a microfiber cloth.
