How to use numbers log

ROGER BOWLEY: Im going to be talking about logarithms, logarithms to the base 10. So for example, if I have a number, which is 100, I can think of that as 10 squared, or 10 to the power 2. So 2 is the logarithm of this number, 100, to the base 10. 1,000 is 10 to the 3. This is the logarithm, the 3, and it corresponds to the number of 0s there. It is logarithm of 1,000 equals 3. I can do 10 to another number. So for example, 10 to the 1.6232 turns out to be 42. That means that if I were to take 10, that means that the log to the base 10 of 42 is 1.6232 to four docHub figures. The reason its useful is multiplication. If I have two numbers and I want to multiply them together, its easy to make mistakes, because there are a lot of little operations that have to be added up. If you go through logarithms and you get a logarithm of a number, such as 42, and you multiply it with another number, such as 37, or 59, or 200, you get the logarithm of that number, and you add these numbers

Any exponential equation of the form ab=c can be written in logarithmic form using loga(c)=b. For example, the exponential equation 23=8 is written as log2(8)=3 in logarithmic form. The number after the equals sign in logarithmic form is the power that the base of the log is raised to to make the number inside the log.
In mathematics, the logarithm is the inverse function to exponentiation. That means the logarithm of a number x to the base b is the exponent to which b must be raised, to produce x. For example, since 1000 = 103, the logarithm base 10 of 1000 is 3, or log10 (1000) = 3.
For an integer number that has n digits, its value is between 10^(n - 1) (included) and 10^n , and so log10(number) is between n - 1 (included) and n . Then the function floor cuts down the fractional part, leaves the result as n - 1 . Finally, adding 1 to it gives the number of digits.
Hence, we can write log 1 as log10 1. As we know, any number raised to the power 0 is equal to 1. Thus, 10 raised to the power 0 makes the above expression true. This will be a condition for all the base value of log, where the base raised to the power 0 will give the answer as 1.
The power to which a base of 10 must be raised to obtain a number is called the common logarithm (log) of the number. The power to which the base e (e = 2.718281828.) must be raised to obtain a number is called the natural logarithm (ln) of the number. The log base 2 can be written as log2N=k l o g 2 N = k , which can be further written in exponential form as 2k = N.
The representation of the natural log of 4 is ln(4). The value of loge 4 is equal to 1.386.

logarithm, the exponent or power to which a base must be raised to yield a given number. Expressed mathematically, x is the logarithm of n to the base b if bx = n, in which case one writes x = logb n. For example, 23 = 8; therefore, 3 is the logarithm of 8 to base 2, or 3 = log2 8.
The number of digits can be calculated by using log10(num)+1, where log10() is the predefined function in math.h header file.
