The international standard recommends writing the date as year, then month, then the day: YYYY-MM-DD.
The best way to use dates in contracts is to write out the month, preceded by a figure for the day. Use four digits when referring to specific years. Never write a date ing to either of the following structures: ..the 15th day of March 1928 (written out)
Dates are formatted YYYY MM DD (basic format) or YYYY - MM - DD (extended format). The basic format (without hyphens) is appropriate when computer readability and storage space are of primary importance, and the extended format (with hyphens) when the document is intended for general readers.
Insert todays date in a Word document On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Date Time. In the Date and time dialog box, select the format you want and click OK. The date is inserted as text.
The letter should start with the date, which can be written on the top left or top right side of the page. After the date, you may skip one or two lines and then address the recipient of the letter. In this case, you can write the date in an abbreviated form or in a numerical format, for example, Dec.
Date Format Types FormatDate orderDescription1MM/DD/YYMonth-Day-Year with leading zeros (02/17/2009)2DD/MM/YYDay-Month-Year with leading zeros (17/02/2009)3YY/MM/DDYear-Month-Day with leading zeros (2009/02/17)4Month D, YrMonth name-Day-Year with no leading zeros (February 17, 2009)24 more rows
Under modern rules, few if any states limit how you write dates in legal documents other than requiring standard American usage: the month first, the day second and the year last. Some attorneys spell out the month and use numerals for the day and year, while others use all numeric numbers.
Be sure to date your letter so the recipient will know when you wrote it. You may place the date either on the right hand side of the page, a few lines below your address, or on the left side of the page a few lines below the other persons address.
The most common way for writing dates in English is to use day/month/year format (also denoted as DD/MM/YYYY). For example, if you were writing the date for the fifth of January , 2022, you would write it as 05/01/22.
In formal writing, always write the date in full when it is part of a sentence. This usually involves giving the day of the month, the month, and the year: The meeting will take place on April 21, 2019. Note that the year follows after a comma.
