After 9pm and before 5am, there are more restrictions. The driver can only drive unsupervised to and from work or school. Otherwise, a parent or guardian must be present as a supervising driver.

With a Class D license, a 17 year old may drive unrestricted anywhere in New York State.

You will earn full driving privileges at 17, or after keeping your Conditional or Special Restricted license for one year, if you received no traffic offenses and were not at-fault in any collisions. You do not have to visit an SCDMV branch to receive full driving privileges.
