heres a quick tip on highlighting text generally your highlighter up the top here is set to yellow and if its yellow that you wish you can highlight the text that you want to highlight in yellow so there it is selected and just hold your ctrl alt and press H we can do that somewhere else if we do it again just here ctrl Alt + H and there it is yellow if you wish to remove the highlighting just highlight the area and hold your ctrl + Alt key down and press H and that removes it lets just do it here as well if you want to change the color you can come up the top here and change the color lets have a sort of light blue color but when you do that it puts it into highlighting mode so your cursor now changes to this shape and you can hold your left button down and select the text and it automatically highlights for you to come out of that mode press the Escape key and now you can highlight text by using your keys ctrl alt H there it is

Why Some PDF Files Cannot be Highlighted Main Reason. One of the most important reason due to which users cant highlight text in PDF document is the Comment Restrictions. When this type of security is applied on the PDF files, the docHub Reader Highlight Tool stops working or gets greyed out.
Use a low opacity rectangle to cover the text: Click on Comment icon to enable the tools. Click on Draw Rectangle tool, Click on Change Color tool, choose the color and set opacity to about 40%, Click on Change Line Thickness tool and set to 0 pt, Draw a rectangle around the text you want to highlight.
If you cannot highlight or select text in a PDF, the file might probably be a scanned copy and cannot be edited. How can you tell whether a copy was scanned? Its simple; the alignment of the text will be off, the pages borders wont be in the same place, and some text will be zoomed in more than others.
If your PDF file is not scanned but you still cant select text in PDF, chances are, the file has security that prevents editing. You cant highlight a secured PDF. If you are using docHub Reader, you can check whether the document is secured by clicking on File Properties and then select the Security tab.
