happy Friday everybody today we are going to talk about the confusing concept of resolution lets go [Music] so a lot of people seem to be confused by the concept of resolution for a digital image whether it be video or still photography its just gonna be the pixel dimension honey pixels across by how many pixels high thats all more pixels equals higher resolution lets just look at the definition of resolution first basically how much clarity or detail is in an image now if were talking about specific image that is going to be destined for print people will sometimes talk about resolution in dots per inch or pixels per inch this is where the confusion sets in because all of a sudden were using a rate ie pixels per inch to define resolution and the overall concept of dimension or how many pixels are in the image itself gets lost as soon as you take images from the digital realm and print it into the physical world now all of a sudden you have to have a resolution so 300 dpi refers

docHub Photoshop and other image editing software have options to convert low-resolution images to high-resolution. If you dont want to pay a monthly subscription for enhancing few photos, you can always try the free online tool recommended.
300DPI for example, equals 118.11 PPI. For a good printing 300 DPI is standard, sometimes 150 is acceptable but never lower, you may go higher for some situations.
Anything 300 PPI or over is usually considered to be high resolution. DPI Dots Per Inch, is a measurement to determine the resolution of an image for printing. High resolution values for DPI are also generally considered to be 300 DPI or over.
Low Resolution Images Images used on the internet are typically 72 dpi. This is a suitable resolution for websites since it enables a small file size and does not look visibly pixelated on most computer screens. However, images at 72 dpi will ALWAYS look pixelated and low-resolution when printed.
Follow these steps. Open your image in Photoshop. Choose Image Image Size. Deselect Resample. This will automatically lock the current ratio of Width and Height. To adjust Resolution, add new values. To adjust Document Size, add new values under Height and Width.
How to Reduce the Size of an Image Using Photoshop With Photoshop open, go to File Open and select an image. Go to Image Image Size. An Image Size dialog box will appear like the one pictured below. Enter new pixel dimensions, document size, or resolution. Select Resampling Method. Click OK to accept the changes.
Megapixels are the standard unit used by manufacturers when referring to camera resolution. More megapixels translate to more individual light sensors on the image sensor, higher image definition, and sharper pictures.
One would change the resolution of an image particularly for printing purposes, because the quality of the print is dependent on the resolution of the image. With Photoshop open, go to File Open and select your image. Go to Image Image Size. An Image Size dialog box will appear like the one pictured below.
An image with a higher PPI tends to be of higher quality due to its greater pixel density. The individual pixels in a 300 PPI image are drastically smaller than in a 72 PPI image. Smaller pixels allow for a smoother blend of color and shape.
The standard resolution for web images is 72 PPI (often called screen resolution). At that size, the pixels you see on the screen are all the pixels there are; an image thats 4 long at 72 PPI will take up about 4 of your monitor.
