Hi everyone. My name is Kevin. Today I want to show you how you can use mail merge to create address labels. So, what do I mean by that? Well, imagine that you have a list of addresses. So maybe in Excel or in Outlook, you have a list of maybe 30, 50, 60, maybe even hundreds of addresses and you want to print each one of those addresses onto an address label. Well, one way to do that is you could create a new address label sheet in Microsoft Word, and you could go through, and you could copy and paste each address into one of the labels and then you could print it out. But that sounds really painful and thats also going to take a long time. Today Im going to show you how you can use mail merge in Word to greatly simplify that task. And as full disclosure before we jump into this, I work at Microsoft as a full-time employee. All right, well what are we waiting for, Lets jump on the PC. So here I am on my desktop and what were going to do is were going to open up Microsoft Word. Th

To format a date merge field, use the \@ switches. For example, to display a date field as 03/30/2010, the merge field should be defined as { MERGEFIELD myObject. myField \@ MM/dd/yyyy} .
How to change date format in Microsoft Word document Open the merge document in Microsoft Word. From the Insert drop-down menu, select Date/Time. Select the appropriate format. Click OK. Save and close the merge document.
The easiest way to do this is to start from a format this is close to what you want. Select the cells you want to format. Press Control+1 or Command+1. In the Format Cells box, click the Number tab. In the Category list, click Date, and then choose a date format you want in Type.
While there isnt a truly universal format understood by everyone in the world, but you can achieve at least a widely understood, unambiguous, and sortable format that might be acceptable for many use cases: yyyy-MM-dd . Broken down: yyyy provides an unambiguous 4-digit year. MM provides a two-digit month number.
Right-click in the field and select Update Field from the drop-down menu. You can also press F9 to update the field. Run the merge by selecting Edit Individual documents from the Mailings tab in the Ribbon and then click OK in the dialog box. In the merged document, the date should appear in the switch format.
Sometimes in a Word Mail Merge the dates do not come out as Day/Month/Year regardless of how you enter it in your data (usually an Excel spreadsheet). To fix this you need a workaround in Word. Essentially you need to add a code to tell Word what format you want it to show.
Select the Date or Time field the format of which you want to change. Right-click the selected field and choose Edit Field from the context menu. In the Filed dialog box, select the desired format for the Date field, and click OK.
How to change date time format in Excel XLTools tab In the Date Time group, open the drop-down list. Click Unify date and time format. Choose to find all cells that are Date Time. Specify where to search: Selected range. Select the preferred format:
