If you simply want to see the creation time and last modification timcreae in Excel (for Excel 2016), the way to do it is just to: Click on File Select Info Find the information you need under the Related Dates section.
Insert a Static Timestamp in Google Sheets. To insert a static time or date stamp in Google Sheets using functions, you must combine the TEXT function with TODAY() or NOW(). After combining the functions, you must copy the cell with the formula and paste only the values to keep the stamp static.
Use the formula =TEXT( NOW(), hh:mm:ss ) to show the current time. If you only want to show the timestamp and not the date, you can modify the formula using the TEXT() function. Copy and paste or type =TEXT( NOW(), hh:mm:ss ) into the cell where you want to display the time.
First of all, select the cell where you need to insert a timestamp. After that, use the shortcut key Control + : (Press and hold control and then press colon). Once you press this, it will insert the current date (ing to your system) in the cell.
Right-click your cell with the current date and select Format Cells. Choose the date format you wish to use for the date. Each time you open the spreadsheet, this cell automatically updates to the current date, in the format of your choosing.
Auto insert timestamp while entering data Firstly, click File Options to open the Excel Options dialog, choose Formulas in the left pane, then check Enable iteractive calculation in Calculation options group. And click OK. then drag auto fill handle down to the cells.
To insert the current date and time, press Alt+Shift+F. To insert only the date, press Alt+Shift+D. To insert only the time, press Alt+Shift+T.
For static timestamps, you can also use CTRL + ; and CTRL + : to insert the date or time. However, Google Sheets has a keyboard shortcut that Excel doesnt CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + ; (Control-Alt-Shift-semicolon). This inserts a static date and time into the selected cell.
