It has 12 numeric digits which are uniquely assigned to each trade item. Weve all seen barcodes on the products that we buy. Did you ever imagine creating them in Excel? Bates Numbering For a single document, open the file, then select Tools / Legal Tools / Bates Numbering. Since Current Document is already selected, continue by clicking Next Make choices for your Bates number by selecting position, font, prefix / suffix and more.
While the original Bates stamps only used numbers (up to a maximum of 9999), there is no set format for Bates numbering. It may be purely numeric or alphanumeric. Either way, Bates numbering is essentially a paper-based method, most useful for printed productions or page-based images.
Contents of native-format files cannot readily be Bates numbered. Similarly, files like Excel spreadsheets arent necessarily formatted for or conducive to pagination.
Then follow these steps to automatically add Bates Numbers to each page in the document set: Open the file. Click Tools. Select Edit PDF. Choose More. Click Bates Numbering and Add. Select Output Options to customize the serial numbers. Click OK.
To add a Bates Number: Select Edit Insert Bates Numbering and select Add from the drop-down list to open the Add Bates Numbers dialog box. Click Add Files. Click Output to display the Add Bates Numbers - Output Rules dialog box. Click OK in the Add Bates Numbers dialog box to call the Header and Footer dialog box.
Use a font with good numerals. Among system fonts, I like Franklin Gothic Medium or Franklin Gothic Demi. Avoid fonts that are condensed or dark on the page (e.g., Arial Black). These fonts are hard to read at small sizes and dont stand up well to scanning or photocopying.
Q: How do you Bates Stamp in docHub? Launch Acrobat application and open PDF file. Go to Tools, Organize Pages, select the Bates Numbering option, and click on Add button. Click on Insert Bates number. Select the OK button for bates stamping the docHub PDF files.
