occasionally you might open file in Excel and instead of having column letters across the top there are numbers if I click on a cell in this file that has a formula I dont see the regular a1 times b2 style its showing RC and numbers to indicate how many columns back from this column to go so its a useful style some of the time but usually you want that familiar ABC style I know I have another copy of this file that I was using yesterday and it had those ABC heading so Im going to open it up and when I open it now it has switched to this 1 to 3 heading this is a reference style so we can have a1 which is the usual style with column letters across the top or this style that Im seeing now which is r1 c1 so row and column references if I want to switch this file back to that a1 reference style I can change an option if I go to the file tab click options and go to formulas and then working with formulas heres the r1 c1 reference style thats been applied now Ill take out that checkm
