If you cant find the icon on the right side toolbar, go up to Window and find Image Trace. If you dont have your art selected, youll notice that the menu is greyed out. You cant use the menu until you bring in some artwork.
Heres how to easily convert a raster image into a vector image using the Image Trace tool in docHub Illustrator: With the image open in docHub Illustrator, select Window Image Trace. With the image selected, check the Preview box. Select the Mode drop down menu, and choose the mode that best suits your design.
After you have your logo open in your Illustrator document, go to Window Image Trace to start the process of tracing the logo. Once the Image Trace window is open, click the logo image to select it. To know whether your photo is selected or not, check whether the options are grayed out.
Image Trace lets you convert raster images (JPEG, PNG, PSD etc.) to vector artwork. Using this feature, you can easily base a new drawing on an existing piece of artwork by tracing it. For example, you can convert the image of a pencil sketch youve drawn on paper into vector artwork using Image Trace.
If it is vector, Image Trace will be grayed out. Try creating a new Illustrator file. Then choose File Place. Navigate to the image you want to trace and place it into your Illustrator file.
Trace an image Choose Object Image Trace Make to trace with default parameters. Illustrator converts the image to black and white tracing result by default. Click the Image Trace button in the Control panel or the Properties panel, or select a preset from the Tracing Presets button ( ).
Select the source image and open the Image Trace panel via Window Image Trace. Alternatively you can select a preset from the Control panel (by selecting from the small menu to the right of the Trace button) or the Properties panel (by clicking the Image trace button and then selecting from the menu).
Expanding an Image Tracing object commits you to the tracing settings. In other words, you cant edit the option in the Image Trace panel for that content after expanding. An Image Tracing object that has been expanded will, more often than not, be smaller in file size than the non-expanded Image Tracing object.
