The required attribute, if present, indicates that the user must specify a value for the input before the owning form can be submitted. The only accepted value for the aria-required property is true. The aria-required attribute indicates that user input is required on the element before a form may be submitted.
The WAI-ARIA aria-required property indicates that user input is required before submission. The aria-required property can have values of true or false. For example, if a user must fill in an address field, then aria-required is set to true.
When you make a field required, people must enter an answer to the field in order to submit their entry. When someone tries to submit an entry without filling out a required field, we highlight the problematic fields and display an error message to let them know the field is required.
However, where HTML 5 required differs from aria-required=true is that HTML 5 required actually has behavior associated with it. Its not intended only to communicate information, but also to prevent the browser from accepting a form when one of its required fields is empty.
The aria-invalid attribute is used on required fields that have no input. A message above the form conveys that form submission has failed due to this. Working example: Using aria-invalid on required fields.
Overview. ARIA is a W3C specification that stands for Accessible Rich Internet Applications. It consists of markup that can be added to HTML in order to communicate the roles, states, and properties of user interface elements to assistive technologies (AT).
If the input elements arent inside a form tag then HTML5 required attribute will fail to work. So always put input tags inside a form along with the form encapsulation itself.
The required attribute is a boolean attribute. When present, it specifies that an input field must be filled out before submitting the form. Note: The required attribute works with the following input types: text, search, url, tel, email, password, date pickers, number, checkbox, radio, and file.
