WHERE DO I RECORD THE DEED? After the deed has been signed and docHubd, the original needs to be filed and recorded with the county clerk in the county where the property is located. You can mail the deed or take it to the county clerks office in person. Only original documents may be recorded.
How do I change, add, or delete a name on a deed? This can only be done by recording a new deed showing the change. Many people think they can simply come into the office and change the present deed on record. However, once a paper is recorded, it cannot be changed.
Individuals who wish to have copies of these documents can buy them from the County Clerks downtown location. For general assistance, call 312-603-5050 to speak to a live operator. If a homeowner doesnt have their PIN, they can conduct a search by address.
