[Music] google documents is a great platform to collaborate with others and create documents online and one of its greatest features is that it lets you create headings to easily navigate sections on your documents [Music] to use this feature open google documents on your web browser then locate the file you want to view and edit next click on view from the options above then click on show document outline and make sure that its checked if there are any headings on your current document then youll be able to see them on the left side of the screen now if you want to create a heading or subheading click on the normal text button on the toolbar then select your desired heading once youre done type in your heading title and youll be able to see it on the outline menu on the left if you want to remove something from the headline simply navigate to the outline menu then click on the x icon besides the heading that you want to remove if you change your mind and want to make it reappear o

Work with a document outline Open a document in the Google Docs app. To open the outline, tap More . Tap Document outline. The outline will open on the bottom. To close, go to the left side of Document outline and tap Close document outline .
Document Outline reflects the order of the headings in your document. If you want the headings to be in a different order in Document Outline, you will need to rearrange them ingly in your document. You cant copy/paste content into Document Outline (as it only mirrors whats in your document).
If the icon isnt there, the document outline is disabled, and youll need to enable it again. To do this, go to View Show Outline. The document outline panel will appear on the left. You can then collapse and re-open it at any point to help with your navigation.

Step 1 Scroll your mouse to the Outline and hover over the particular heading you want to remove. Step 2 Click the cross (x) sign at the side of the heading. It will automatically remove the heading from the Outline list but not modify the Heading 1/2/3 formatting in the main document.
Open a document in Google Docs. Select text for an outline heading. At the top, click Normal text. Open a document in Google Docs. Click View. Show outline. The outline opens on the left. Click the heading you want to go to in the document. Youll move to that place in the document.
If you click on the View button you should see the Show document outline feature ticked. That said, the outline may not show until you click on the Outline button in the upper left corner of the screen. If for some reason the outline feature isnt enabled, simply activate it from the View menu.
