Bates College views demonstrated interest as necessary. Boston University considers demonstrated interest as important. Carnegie Mellon University considers demonstrated interest as essential in the admissions process.
Today many letters of acceptance are sent through email. This means that students may receive their college acceptance letters or rejection letters at any time of day, even potentially at school.
We will continue to accept self-reported test scores, but want to emphasize that students who do not or can not submit test scores will not be at a disadvantage in our admission process, including for merit scholarships.
When Do Colleges Release Admissions Decisions? Most admissions decisions are released in late March. Students typically receive a notification from each individual school they applied to, either by email or in their application portal, when decisions are ready to be viewed.
The U.S. $60 application fee is automatically waived for non-U.S. citizens applying to Bates for first-year admission no requests for fee waivers or additional financial documents are needed. Non-U.S. citizens applying for financial aid and seeking transfer admission are eligible for a fee waiver.
For many students who have decided that Bates is their first choice, Early Decision is a good plan. Between 30% and 40% of the entering class is admitted early. There are two deadlines to choose from: November 15 for notification by December 20 and January 1 for notification by February 15.
The early decision acceptance rate at Bates College is 60%, compared to an overall acceptance rate of 17%. Last year, Bates College admitted 338 of the 568 students who applied early decision. Some students apply early to college to increase their chances of getting in.
