Most people add it by displaying the Font dialog box and then selecting Strikethrough in the Effects area of the dialog box. You can define your own shortcut key for strikethrough by customizing Word. All you need to do is follow these steps: Press Ctrl+D.
The standard way to use the strikethrough feature is to select the text you want to strikethrough and then select the strikethrough feature on the home tab. However, Word also has shortcuts that you can use to achieve the same thing. Press CTRL + D.
Once you make the selection, click the Format option in the toolbar at the top of the page. In the menu that appears, select or hover over the Text option. This selection leads to another menu where you can select the Strikethrough tool.
(A good combination to consider is Alt+Shift+S or Ctrl+Alt+S, neither of which are used in a default installation of Word.) Click the Assign button. The shortcut key is now assigned to apply strikethrough formatting. Click Close to dismiss the Customize Keyboard dialog box.
