Hey, this is Taylor with the strikethrough shortcut for Microsoft Excel. And there's two different ways to shortcut this in Excel. Now first off, different than Word and PowerPoint, there is no strikethrough command you can click up here with your mouse or use your ribbon guide shortcuts like a show in my other videos. So the two keyboard shortcuts, the very first one is just control five control five will either apply a strikethrough, all right? Or if you select items within a list that already have a strikethrough and hit Ctrl five a second time, you'll remove them. So this is one option, a longer route, but it gives you more options is Ctrl one. So in Excel hitting Ctrl one I'll select some cells will give you the format cells dialog box. Now depending on where this dialog box opens, you'll need to use your shortcut keys to jump to these different tabs, which I'll demo. So Ctrl one, it's going to open up the font tab. To highlight: Select a cell or group of cells Home Cell Styles, and select the color to use as the highlight. To highlight text: Select the text Font Color and choose a color. To create a highlight style: Home Cell Styles New Cell Style. Enter a name, select Format Fill, choose color OK.
To quickly highlight all cells with a specific format: Click on any cell that has the format youre looking for, then press the Ctrl+1 keys.
Here is a quick guide: With the cells selected, press Alt+H+H. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select the color you want.
Heres how: Click Open in Excel. Select the cells containing the data you want to format. Click the Format Cells box launcher. Tip: You can also press Ctrl+5. In the Format Cells box, under Effects, click Strikethrough. Save the workbook and reopen it in Excel for the web to see the changes.
Change the color of text Select the cell or range of cells that has the data you want to format. You can also select just a portion of the text within a cell. On the Home tab, choose the arrow next to Font Color . Under Theme Colors or Standard Colors, choose a color.
Just select the cell where you want to apply the strikethrough format and press Control + 5.
Unlike other Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel does not provide a button that you can use to highlight all or individual portions of data in a cell. However, you can mimic highlights on a cell in a worksheet by filling the cells with a highlighting color.
To highlight a cell or range of cells, simply press Ctrl+Shift+Y. This shortcut will change the fill color of the selected cells to yellow. You can also use this shortcut to highlight cells that contain errors, by selecting the cells that you want to highlight and then pressing Ctrl+Shift+Y.
